[Abstract]In the nano-wire harogen-bridged metal complexes (Pt, Pd, and Ni), the Pt and Pd complexes take M(II)-M(IV) mixed-valence states, while the Ni complexes take Ni(III) averaged states. Until our research, there were no Pd(III) averaged state complexes. We have found four strategies to realize the Pd(III) averaged states by shortening the Pd-Pd distances as follows; (1)The chemical pressures by introducing the sulfonic acid counteranions with the long alkyl chains, (2) The alloy of Ni(III) complexes and Pd(II)-Pd(IV) complexes, (3)The weak ligand field by using cyclopentanediamine as in-plane ligands, and (4)The triple hydrogen-bonds between ligands and counteranions. As results, we have realized the unusual Pd(III) complexes for the first time. Moreover, we have observed the phase transitions between Pd(II)-Pd(IV) and Pd(III) states and their charge fluctuations.
